Belton, TX Volksmarch (10K walk)

Saturday, August 11, 2012

We walked in Belton this morning just as the sun was coming up. The walk went through downtown past the courthouse with its war memorial and Confederate Monument. It also passed the old Carnegie Library shown below.

It continued out through the residential district with some really nice homes. I was surprised to see a roadrunner. I haven't seen one of them in years.

The walk took us through the UMHB campus and over to the hike/bike trail along Nolan Creek. I like this historic church.

The creek right now is pretty low. Hard to believe it sometimes floods the hike/bike trail.

I am learning so much about TX from all of your walks.
My husband & I saw a roadrunner recently in our neighborhood as we were driving out of it. I wonder if the drought is causing them to come closer into the towns and cities?
