Parking Ticket - What the H*** (you can fill in the blanks)

Saturday, August 11, 2012

I forgot to share this story with all of you.

Many of you know I have been under tremendous stress this year and things are not getting much better so keep that in mind while reading this.

I had taken my brother to yet another one of his unending doctor's appointments and as we were walking out to my car he says "You've got a ticket on your windshield" emoticon

I take it off and we get in the car and I thought to myself oh well I guess $10 or $15 ticket isn't so bad and then I looked closely at it and it was $150.00 well that just about did me in I was just about to lose it and start bawling like a baby. But I got a hold of myself and called the number at the bottom of the ticket. You see we had parked in a handicap parking space like we always do but we had forgotten to hang Dave's permanent handicap sticker from the rear view mirror. I explained this to the lady and she said we can mail in the tag numbers or just come to their office. It just so happened their office was just a few blocks away and I didn't need anything else hanging over my head so we went to their office. Dave was ready to whip out his credit card to pay and I told him there wasn't going to be any charge. All we had to do was show the handicap tag and they took the numbers from it and his name etc and we were on on way. emoticon

I can laugh about this now but Thursday it was so not funny. We both decided then and there that even if we are not parking in a handicap spot we are going to get in the habit of hanging that tag anyway just to avoid a situation like that again.

Oh boy PJ I can feel your pain but am happy they allowed you to show the proof and not make you pay. I'm actually sorta surprised but happy as well. You've been under enough stress that this was NOT needed. Glad you got your composure and it all worked out. Sending a hug to you and Dave. Weezie

I'm glad it worked out so well. Personally I'm pleased to see someone policing the use of handicapped spaces.; there are a lot of violators around here, and when I needed it for my hubby when he was in the wheelchair it drove me crazy. And I'll bet you'll never forget to hang the tag again!!

Bad things happen to GOOD people. I was about to cry with you here. Thank God everything worked out for the best. Maybe it is easier to remember to hang the tag every time you go somewhere. I'm always thinking of you and praying for you. (((Hugs)))

So glad that they were willing to forgive that ticket! You are trying to be a good sister and help your brother out........that would have been very discouraging to say the least! Hope that things get better for both of you, soon!

I agree, good habit to get into, hanging the sign from the mirror no matter where you park the car! emoticon

Good grief!!! That you didn't need! I'm glad everything worked out in the end, though. I think it's a good idea to hang the tag no matter where you are - that way you won't forget.

Have I mentioned recently how much I admire what you're doing for/with your brother. I 'm sure he appreciates what a wonderful sister he has. emoticon

Oh, Lordy, that is the last thing you needed!!! I still have one in my car that was for mom. I guess that I need to get rid of it. My sister also has one that was for mom! Funny, but I'd forgotten about it until I read your blog!
