Saturday, August 11, 2012

Here's your laugh for the day. This is from a 1949 sewing manual.

My, how the times have changed! Love reading things like this--I have old cookbooks that have similar kinds of advice in them. Um, no, I think not!

    OMG that is so great.
I truely wish our society today would dress nicely and put on a good face. We have become such an uncivil society where anything goes.

I love these old bits of advice from the 1940s and 1950s! I can only imagine what my husband would think if he came home and saw me sewing dressed to the nines and with full makeup on, lol!

Oh, dear! I think a visitor or my husband would fall over in shock if they came in and I was doing anything in dress and full makeup! I do, however, like the first part where it's suggested to have the sewing attitude. That attitude idea works for just about everything. "Good results are difficult when indifference predominates."

Have a great Sunday!

That was published when I was 2 years old and my sister was just born. I certainly don't remember those days, but I do remember the mid-50's and women still dressed every day, down to stockings and girdles. Little girls wore dresses and crinoline slips (highly starched) when they went out in public. I certainly prefer today's more casual style of dress, although I think some of the younger generation have taken it a bit too far.
