Shaving off those last five bites of your meal you can cut, on average, about 250 calories. Do it every night and that can turn into a loss of 26 pounds in just one year. Try this the next time you eat out: Put the last five bites into a doggy bag and make it into a meal the next day. Add your leftovers to a vegetarian protein (like beans or tofu) and serve with a spinach salad. If you loved your dinner the night before, having a little bit more the next day is always a pleasure, says Batayneh.

    Good reminder. I love this idea. In fact, my WW lunch group and I usually cut our meal in half and we all have a take home for dinner. Sometimes it's easy like half a sandwich, but sometimes, like you say, you have to make a decision to leave a portion(MAYBE 5 BITES, OR MORE) on your plate. I always feel better when I don't finish my restaurant meal anyway. I used to go home w/o the extra food, but with a BIG tummy ache; the beginnings of serious GERD. LESS IS BETTER! Plus, you get to enjoy leftovers, even homecooked meals! emoticon
