Yesterday was really interesting...and very stressful.
In a nutshell, I went for a job interview (only my fourth in three years) and the drive was almost an hour away but if I could get benefits and 40 hours a week, I felt it would be worth it, at least for a year while still looking.
However, I was unable to locate the place, even after driving around the supposed address for almost half an hour. As if that wasn't bad enough, we're talking a Friday afternoon at the height of rush hour. I actually had to go into a drugstore to get directions on how to get back to the highway home. And sitting in standstill traffic during highway construction was something I haven't had to deal with for over ten years.
When I got home, after letting the dogs out and feeding the cats, I called the company to let them know I hadn't just not shown up but the trouble I had trying to find them. She was receptive and said she would note my information for possible future recall, BUT she also told me they had already filled the position! Now, I didn't ask if it was before or after my late appointment and I can't blame them for being unable to call me since I have no cell phone....HOWEVER, there was NO message from them on my machine when I got home, so that's irritating. Oh, well - just wasn't meant to be.
So, I called the widow of my late boss and told her what had happened and that I would be over shortly (we'd already agreed to meet in lieu of our usual Bunco group, which wasn't meeting this month), and we talked for about three hours. About 10:30, I got into my car to leave since I had to work tomorrow and lo and behold, my car wouldn't start!!!!
It's not the battery as the car would turn over. It just wouldn't stay turned over. I'm just glad it didn't happen when I was way out in Benbrook! Unfortunately, I had to call my sister to help me get my car fixed since I have no means to do so myself. (Thank God for my family!)
Unfortunately, the place she wants me to use isn't open till Monday, so I've either got to find someone to take me back and forth to work this weekend or lose out on work entirely.
