Uggh! I cannot stand that phrase. I just read a blog about someone who just started running a month ago and he is so proud of his being able to stick with it that he has now set himself as the standard for anyone to be able to start running.
For one thing, just because someone else has been able to accomplish a particular feat, does not mean another person can accomplish the same thing. It has been my experience that it my determination, perseverance and effort will cause my success, not the abiltiy of another.
So, while it is great to boast about one's accomplishment, I do not believe it is correct to say that because I can do, then so can you. But, then again, I have always been the "odd man out" and never really went for doing something just because someone else was doing it.
Well, I am now off to the 5k race: "If I can do it, so can you"
