So things have been pretty consistently ok in the fitness department this week. Today I stepped back and realized I really need to look at not really how much I'm eating, because I don't eat that much food in general, but at what I'm eating.
I eat JUNK. Let's face it, when the healthiest thing you can say about yourself and your eating habits is that you get all your protein from milk and cheese...well, uhoh.
So today I asked my mom, whose eating habits I have always admired, to take me to the grocery store. This is a big deal for me. I am a SUPER picky eater. I don't eat any vegetables at all, and it takes a lot of effort to even get one fruit in my a day. Or a week sometimes. But I know that's not sustainable.
My mom told me once when I was a kid (in regards to my eating habits, which were just as bad if not worse then) that I would die before I turned 20 if I didn't change my ways. Well, I proved her wrong. I'm 24 and still kicking, but should that fact really be that astonishing?
Fast forward to grocery store. My mom helped me go through every aisle and pick out the healthier options for things I would typically eat. Plus we loaded up on the fruits that I like and the veggies (baby carrots and snap peas) that I will eat if I really feel I have to and I'm given some ranch dressing (made with ranch flavoring and greek yogurt!).
So tonight I'm cooking up a turkey burger with some low-fat cheese on a whole wheat bun, and while I wait I'm sipping on some (pulp free, I admit) orange juice.
Let's see how far I can go with this!
