Today my precious parents are celebrating their 66th wedding anniversary. You read that right - 66 years! My husband and I celebrated our 31st on Wednesday. My sister and her husband celebrate their 44th next Friday.

My sister and I owe so much of our marital success to the example our parents set for us. Have their 66 years been nothing but bliss? Absolutely not! But they have remained true to their marriage vows, even now as "in sickness and in health" is being played out on the movie screen that is their life. Each night as we tuck Daddy into bed, Mama reaches over, gives him a kiss and tells him she loves him. Although he us unable to communicate verbally these days, he tells her the same thing with his eyes. They are truly a sight to behold.

Marriage is a gift from God. With Him as the center strand in that cord of three, and if He wills us to live that long, we may all look forward to long happy wedded days.

So, give your spouse an extra hug today! I'm going to!
