Be a Finisher!

Friday, August 10, 2012

I recently started watching Biggest Loser. I started with Season 1, then got bored so switched to Season 11, since I know one of the contestants, Deni Hill, it made it much more interesting and relatable. I used to not be interested in this show whatsoever because I felt that the show was unrealistic with those huge numbers, I mean who has the luxury of personal trainers 8 hours a day and personal chefs, etc? But now I can see why people like ths show so much. The contestants worked their butt off at 300 and 400 lbs. I was impressed to see them finish a 5K distance of running multiple times. They also talked a lot about 'being a finisher' both in their workouts and toward their overall goal. I think that really struck with me. I am only 8 lbs or so away from my weight goal of being 150. It's been years since I've been this fit! I've lost about 52 lbs since January. So, my mantra is 'be a finisher'. With so many things in life we get close to our goal, then lose focus and move on to something else. Good health to ourselves is our greatest gift, we only have one 'home', our bodies, this needs to be a priority in our lives.

I agree that the Biggest Loser is unrealistic. They stop their lives for weeks at a time to focus only on their weight loss goals. Exercising for 8 hours a day doesn't sound like something you can maintain at home and while having a real life. Being on the journey at home you to encounter the ordinary difficulties and challenges of life like a pot luck, a birthday party, the holidays etc. You also learn more than one way to over come those challenges with SP.
I recently changed my goal for the continuing journey ahead. My goal is to achieve and MAINTAIN physical freedom for life.
