A BIKER'S POEM

Thursday, August 09, 2012

flying down the highway
seeking the speed of light
wind in your hair
bugs in your teeth
sunburn peeling
worries receding
roar of the motor
between your legs
sweet exhaust notes
left behind
roadside bar, COLD BEER!
on the far horizon
desert summer
neverending

I don't know jack about poetry, so I don't know if that is any good or not. It just popped into my head fully formed (mostly!) While I was working out this morning, so I wrote it down.

Its great! Love the feeling of iron between you and the road, watching the yellow dotted slip by.... seeking the setting sun on the edge of the universe. Yeah.... that's a deep breath of awesome.

Great poem you hit it on the head, wish I still rode.

Bear, that's a great poem. Strong and manly, rather than flowery. It captures perfectly the feeling of flying down the highway on a bike.

I have a degree in English Literature, specializing in poetry, so I've read, written and critiqued tons of them. Yours is good.
