I never thought I'd see the day. I'm sick of eating out. Its all the same after a while. High priced, high fat food. We have a mini fridge and a microwave. I kept the fridge stocked with water but not food. I thought we were leaving a week ago, and in previous weeks was running all over the place so eating was done on the run.
This week its just me and my husband. My SIL is back at work. So I hit Publix, got some low sodium ham, rye bread, mustard, a pre-made salad. Fruit salads are buy one get one free, so yum! I have my cereal and V8 for the morning, lunch taken care of, dinner not sure about yet.
In addition to the death of my MIL, this has been a sucky time. I got a ticket on I-4, the cop said I was doing 94 in a 60 mile an our zone. Now I have to go to court because of the high speed. I was going to fight it anyway.
On Sunday, while turning left to pull into a parking lot to a laundry mat, some idiot on a scooter motorcycle thing tried to pass us on the drivers side (which was the side we were turning into, so the guy slammed into the passenger side door on the drivers side. He must have been going pretty damm fast because he hit the door, went flying about ten feet OVER the hood of my Tahoe, and skidded face first about 50 feet. All I heard was a "BOOM" then saw this guy flying in the air over my hood onto the ground. My husband was driving, and he finished pulling into the lot then jumped out to see what the hell happened. Lucky for the guy there was a fire truck passing by and they stopped, they had a paramedic on board with stuff to help. I called 911, was put on hold! But finally got through.
I was totally confused. I could not understand what had happened. I walked around the back of the truck to see the damage, thinking he sas behind us, but saw nothing then as I walked all the way around I saw the passenger door and was like OMG!!
If my husband had not had new shocks put on a couple days before, the guy would have gone headfirst through the window instead of over the truck.
The shocks raised the truck another 2 inches or he would have hit the window.
So come to find out, it is not mandatory for vehicles with only 2 wheels to carry insurance. What a dumb ass law!! The police officer called the bike a DUI bike" because people who have DUI's can drive them if they lose their licence. Great!
So we don't carry collision because our truck is paid for. So its out of pocket for us, unless the guy has the money to pay the damages. We were sort of lucky because the damage is only done to the door, and dh already picked up a replacement for around $360. We will have our body guy paint it to match our truck, he still has paint from the last work he did for us.
Its just a hassle for us, more money wasted. The officer too the ticket to the hospital for the other guy, because he was at fault.
Florida does have a division that handles accidents where there is no insurance. Supposedly, the person in the wrong must either pay or make arrangement's for payments to the other person or they can loose their Florida licence for up to 20 years. We will see haw that goes.
