Walk vs Jog

Wednesday, August 08, 2012

I am unsure of the difference right now!!!! LOL

This morning, I jogged the neighborhood and got 3.12 miles in 38 minutes. Tonight I walked 3.10 miles in 40 minutes. Either I jog really slow, or walk really fast...?

Is this normal? Anyone else have this happen to them?

Maybe it's both! It also depends on the day and how your body is feeling. My husband and I do walking/jogging intervals (but honestly our jogs are more like sprints) and our walk is really fast paced.

I was confused on this too and read a paper on this on the internet. wished I saved it but in a nut shell....You would think it you walk or jog 1 mile or 10 minutes that you would burn the same amount of calories. a mile is a mile right... wrong. Walking you glide along as you move while jogging or running uses more of your body as you "spring off " and move your arms more. Hence you are using more energy. Stairs also use more calories then walking. From what I gathered that times and distant can be the same but the energy output is total different. emoticon emoticon
