Both Maggie and I went to doctor appointments today. Mine was to the oncologist, and Maggie to the Vet. I even walked to my appointment and back , so I got in a nice walk in the morning.
Everything was good, and my blood pressure was 115/65. That's even better than my last doctor appointment. I am going to try and wean myself off the medication I take for hot flashes. The doctor and I discussed how and she would change the prescription to a lower dose, and then after two weeks I would start a new prescription that was not the time release version, and then after two weeks go to every other day and then I should be after that the prescription runs out. At least that is the plan. All depends on how my hot flashes are. If they are really bad, then I can return to what I am taking now. The med's I am on can make losing weight harder, and I would like to get off them and see if that is part of the reason for my plateau.
We took Maggie to the vet after Jim got off work for some f her shots and to get heartworm pills and more toothpaste. She has some receding gum line around a few of her front teeth and food really gets caught in there. I brush her teeth religiously every night before going to bed. The vet said they could pull the one tooth. There is no rush since it isn't infected or anything, just something I have been keeping an eye on every day. We also mentioned that occasionally she will drag a hind foot when we walk. The vet curled up her foot on each leg and then released it and noted that the right hind foot doesn't always return flat right away to normal. He suspects she may have arthritis in her back somewhere and that could be affecting a nerve that travels to her foot. If it becomes a problem there is some medication we can give her. At least we know what to look for and check her foot if we notice it happening. Surgery is an option, but we will see if it is something that becomes a problem in the future. but for an 8 year old greyhound, he thought she was in great shape. Her weight was 59.5. The walking has trimmed her up too!
We worked on putting the new stock on my rifle and had to do some dremeling to get the bolts and trigger guard to fit. Still have to do some work on it to get the fit just right. Looks nice though and should feel better to shoot.
My mom and I had a nice brunch after my appointment and we did a few errands that she needed done. Got some bird seed and furnace filters for her and then balanced her checkbook. She is all set now with the birdfood in the storage containers.
Watched the movie "The Gringo" tonight with Mel Gibson. Pretty good humor with alot of shooting for action. We had seen the previews and it looked good and we enjoyed it. Don't ever want to end up in a Mexican prison if they are anything like in the movie.
Off to bed now.
