Flexibility Needed

Just got back from the Y. Met DSIL there and gave him the kids before my workout. I will be glad when Gwen is well enough to go back to the nursery, since morning workouts are my favorites. But at least Gwen doesn't feel bad; she just has a runny nose. I went 5 miles on the treadmill in just about an hour in run-walk-run intervals . I started out tired, but picked up steam and ended up feeling good. I find that is often the way with 5 pm workouts, while with morning workouts I feel good from the beginning.

This Saturday I'll run with my Galloway group. We are scheduled for 6.5 miles. I'll ride with my cycle group on Sunday, but on Monday I'm headed out of state, flying 2000+ miles to visit my 85 year old mom who has recently entered an assisted living facility. I plan to do all 3 of my scheduled training runs during my visit. I'll be back the following week. Hope to be committed and flexible enough to stick to the plan!

    Gosh, I so understand when you say that morning workouts are better for you....it seems for me that as the day goes on my steam lessons. but I too have also noticed that if I just push myself to get in the pool and do some laps or if I need more steps on my pedometer to meet my goals and I just get started then I seem to pick up energy and of course feel so much better for doing the extra exercise. You sound like you are doing just great with the running. Keep up the good work!

    I so agree with you on morning workouts! Its no wonder people stuck having to do evening workouts find it hard to stick to! I know I need an extra push to get out for my evening classes, its a good thing I enjoy them so much and have great instructors!
You great organizer you! I will bet you will really enjoy those out of state runs because you will get to explore new scenery :)

    When "real life" intervenes flexibility is a must. But I know you've proven you HAVE it. So hope your trip goes well, and that Gwen gets past the runny nose so she can be more "portable" for your workouts, too.

    Marsha, wishing you all the best in re: your visit with your Mom. I've been there/done that - first with MIL who lived nearby, and then with my Mom who lived in TX, but near my sister.

Your workouts sound great. I hope little Gwen's nose quits running soon!
