I don't know about anyone else but I always get a little queasy when I cross the border. I've done nothing wrong but the border guards (both ways) always make me feel like I've committed some type of crime. We realized that we get grilled harder when we cross together. I'm not sure exactly why but it might be a mix of factors...I have a US passport and his is Canadian, we're different races and I'm quite a bit older than him. Maybe they think I'm trying to sneak him in.
Not too long after we got married we took a road trip to visit my family in Georgia. He was going to stay a week and fly home and I was going to stay a bit longer. When we got to the US border, the guard gave us a hard time until we showed him my husband's plane ticket back home. I wonder what would have happened if we didn't have that "proof"?
I know it's their job to keep us safe but do they have to be so cranky while doing it?
Anybody know a guard personally? Are they not allowed to smile, be pleasant and thorough at the same time? I'm from the South and used to people being overly polite and friendly. Maybe I'm reading more into it than I should.
Just my thoughts...
