Back to where I was!

Wednesday, August 08, 2012

One really bad day seems to take me about 3-4 days to reverse. Now, to be fair, part of that was definitely water retention due to muscle inflammation from that brutal leg workout. My legs are STILL sore! They're almost back to 100%, though, so I have no qualms about the bike.

4 days to undo the damage from one, though... If you forget the muscle sorenes, or any monthly bloating or anything like that... it kind of reflects on how I got to where I am right now anyway.

I took a field trip into my closet a few days ago and tried on a bunch of stuff to try to make some sort of weight timeline for myself. I didn't buy a scale until just a few years ago, so if you asked me what I weighed on my wedding day, etc, I wouldn't know! I've also been looking through my personal journal to kind of get a timeline of things, though. apparently 2009 was a busy year!

I can tell you this:

I am smaller than when I tried Curves. I tried Curves in 2008-2009 and found it to be completely worthless. I'm sure it works for some people out there, just not for me. I need more strength training, and less lies about hydraulic machines and taking it easy.

2009 was also the year I went to San Antonio with my husband for a wedding anniversary! I smashed myself into a size 16 cocktail dress that didn't really fit, because it was all I could find. I was most likely an 18 or larger, depending on whether or not it was backless. Today, that dress fits quite well and is even getting a bit loose.
Sometime after that, I decided to ditch Curves and do my own thing: deadlifts and all sorts of weight stuff x3 a week, and a 40/40/20 macronutrient breakdown. Trying to get enough protein for the right ratio actually made my portions smaller, and I was effectively losing weight through dieting, since the strength training wasn't burning a lot of calories. I lost somewhere between 25-28 lbs before I gave it up. (Had a lot of troubles keeping to that diet)

Apparently I tried counting calories back then, but I was not very good at it! I know I still have my food logs on my ipad from back then. Later, I should go re-read them for some laughs!

I am smaller than I was at my youngest brother's wedding, though I really can't remember when that was :X I tried looking through my journal for some sort of date, but I'm going to guess dec/jan of 2007/2008 for now!

I am very near my wedding weight! A shirt I wore to my groom's dinner buttons up, but buckles horribly at the boob. I am not there yet, but I'm getting closer! I figure weight wise? I'm back down to at least 2005 :P Wedding weight will be 2003... End of 100 lbs in 1 year challenge will be about... Freshman year of college, mid- Freshman 50 gain :P So we'll say 1999.

Basically, I've progressed farther than my previous 3 years of yoyoing, and basically lost more than I ever have on any one attempt.

I need to keep this in mind, so that I can keep going and reach happy maintenance land without sliding back into sad yoyo land ever again. I'm feeling pretty optimistic for today, and looking forward to losing the next 10 lbs to get to ONEderland! (I'm guessing mid-Sept. at my current rate)

This is great! I too have a fuzzy history of my weight. It's fun to try and figure out where you were and when, especially when you realize you are blazing a new trail of success!! Congrats on these non-scale victories, and keep up the great work!!!

In all likelihood you're just up because of water weight. Every time I start 30DS I gain 2 lbs by the next day. It makes me not want to do it at all. =P

Great job on the progress! I share the same feeling with you about Curves, that is why I never went there! I had a friend who had a membership and she was not motivated at all there. I believe in doing significant workouts and I believe in not feeling hungry with a plan. I follow the L.A. Weight Loss program on my own and from 2005-2007 I lost 187 lbs with it. When I did the program it was strict, I am much more relaxed with it and from November 2009-present I have lost 104 lbs. Stick with it, positivity will get you there and if you want any advice on Nutrition, stop by!
