So far, so good. Although I'll probably feel like Gizmo this afternoon:
It's been over 5 years since I quit pop. My motivation back then was my nieces & grandkids thinking it was ok to copy me (NO!!!) so for their health as well as mine, I quit completely. Fortunately they were so young they don't even remember now. They only drink ice water when they visit us. Because that's what I'm drinking & after all, "water is for cool people" as my 4 year old step-granddaughter told her friends.
I suffered 4 days of excruciating headaches & crying but I made it. I only drink plain tea, plain iced tea & ice water & I've never been tempted to go back (I remember the pain). When I was addicted to pop, I drank 4 liters of diet coke a day. Scary, right? Just 2 months after I quit, my dentist & dental hygenist were delighted: my teeth looked better. Of course, I made sure this house became a no pop zone (where I was brought up in WNY, it was called pop. Here in VA it's called soda. Whatever it's called, it's horrific on the body, but I digress).
Anyway, I figure if I could get through that I can get through this. However... this is actually a much harder addiction to overcome: the pop addiction was only for 12 years. This sugar addiction has been for 40 years. I'm requesting a lot of prayers, encouragement & good advice. I did a lot of research yesterday but I'm a newbie at this.
