That the US is in the poor health that it is?

In this morning's newspaper, we received a flyer with 24 specials offered at Target. I won't eat any of them. "Special Deals" on things from potato chips to brownie bits and fruit juices loaded with high fructose corn syrup.

Being on a Low Carb diet, and avoiding processed foods, I know this junk is a big reason the country is in the health mess it's in. The food manufacturers make these things so very attractive.

All of this crap should come with a warning label.

It's so annoying that they do that! It actually makes me really mad. And the good fresh food is twice as much! Urggghhh! When will they see sense and stop promoting all this rubbish that is killing our generation?!

Depressing, isn't it?

One bright hope to cling to: when we were told repeatedly by "reliable" sources that fat was bad and we should stop eating so much of it, we did. That was bad information, so it had bad consequences.

But that implies that once the NEW "reliable" sources correct this egregrious error that people will start to head down the better road to better health. It's going to be a long time coming - maybe more than one generation - but eventually we'll get there. Big Ag will figure out eventually how to make money from fresh foods, and then it will be business as usual.
