THERE IS NOTHING LIKE A BIRTHDAY TO REMIND ONE THAT
THE CLOCK KEEPS TICKING

I NEED TO PUSH MYSELF HARDER
IF I EVER WANT TO MAKE IT BACK INTO ONEDERLAND

MEET MY NEW PERSONAL TRAINER....
WAIT....
IS THAT A WAND OR A TASER SHE'S HOLDING IN HER HAND ???

{...uh oh...WOUBBIE suggested it might be a cattle prod...ouch!...}

I came across an interesting article from MY HEALTH NEWS DAILY
Lose Weight Smartly: 7 Little-Known Tricks that Shave Pounds
www.myhealthnewsdaily.co
m/861-seven-diet-tricks-fo
r-weight-loss.html

emoticon"Eating just a salad for lunch is probably the worst meal for weight management," said Manuel Villacorta, a San Francisco-based dietician and spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association. "Have the salad, but have a sandwich with it, or a bowl of bean soup." As low-calorie as all those salad veggies are, without carbohydrates, they do nothing to knock down levels of the hunger hormone ghrelin, which tells the brain when to eat.
{...I would add protein instead of carbs...}
emoticonThe best time for an aerobic workout is before breakfast. "This is when your insulin level should be its lowest, and therefore the energy for the workout has to come from fat. Whenever insulin levels are elevated which is nearly most of the rest of the day given how frequently Americans eat fat stores are protected and cannot be used for energy."

    An early morning workout always feels so nice, but it interferes with my love of sleeping in. The workout must prevail. I wish I had my son's internal clock. To him, sleeping until 7:30 is REALLY sleeping late. emoticon

    Once my girls are back to school, I will go and do my trail before breakfast. I used to do that after I had to drop off my daughter early at school when she had a meeting to attend for her many activities. I was out by 7am and was done by 8:30am. I did go on the trail before lunch.

    My money's on "cattle prod".

Much as I hate mornings, I have to admit that if I get some activity in before 9 am I feel better the WHOLE DAY. And I totally agree about the protein/fat in the salad, not the carbs.

    Greeeeeeeeeeeat link- most I knew but it's good to see it all together like that.
I gotta figure out the whole carbs thing for me.
I believe in eating low carb but I also believe some whole wheat, sweet potatoes, beans, fruit, etc. give us important micro- nutrients and fiber.

    The link had another tip I never thought of. eating 1200 cal, then 1500, then 1800 and then repeat to ward off the starvation mechanism. Thanks for the link!

    No sandwiches for lunch for me either. It makes my blood sugar worse. I think morning exercise is best too. Your personal trainer, Pinch Face, certainly has a tiny waist. I can't achieve that look. I have big organs. LOL.

    Good luck with your new personal trainer..and hope that is not a taser she is holding..although there are some days it might help getting motivated to exercise.

I agree with salads and protein..interesting about the insulin being low before breakfast and losing fat.

Hope you enjoyed your bd.

    But some days I have eaten more than enough for breakfast and snack so by lunch time, a salad is all I can handle. You have to do these things individually. I can't stick to any program I am afraid. Woe is me - but I have improved. So I am going in the right direction, Sheryl. I can't believe how long it has taken me!

    I cannot exercise first thing in the morning because that is when I work, but I do find that if I exercise just before lunch or just before supper I get these same benefits. It just has to be several hours since I ate last. I also find that my energy level is higher because I'm not trying to digest food.
