I saw the most amazing sight on my way home from the store tonight. As I drove down the street I happened to catch out the corner of my eye the most beautiful sight...a deer! I went to grab my camera to get a shot and I didn't have it with me. Then I went to grab my phone and I didn't have that either. Are you kidding me?!
So I drove up a bit and turned around and parked by the side of the road with my hazard lights on, just to be on the safe side and also to slow other cars coming up behind me so as not to scare her onto the road.
Picture this...a small strip of beautiful green grass, a small pond at the edge of the woods. A beautiful doe calmly nibbling on the tall grass surrounding the little pond and the colors of the sunset casting a warm glow on her fur. She wasn't bothered by the cars on the road a mere 20 yards away from her. At one point it looked like she was thinking about crossing the road then went into the woods. She came back out after a minute and continued to nibble on the grass. I was there for a good 15 minutes just watching her.
She did decide to try and cross the road and I instinctively raised my left hand in a crossing guard fashion to try and stop her from getting hit. The car coming towards me on the other side stopped when he saw my hand up and looked over and saw her. She backed off and went into the woods. I waited a few more minutes but she never came out again.
I always thank God when I see such beauty and tonight I saw two...a beautiful sunset and this beautiful doe. I was in the right place at the right time. The only thing that would have made it better is if I had my camera.
