Giddy Up!!

The main reason I post blogs is to get things off my chest. I find that if I throw my 'troubles' out into the universe, the weight falls off my shoulders and I can regroup easier than if I stifle them.

Once again, this has proven true. I woke up this morning. I got out of bed. I threw on my workout gear. I ran the 5k around my neighborhood that I had only been doing half-assed lately. I got back home. I did my post-running stretches. I didn't feel DONE. I went into the spare bedroom and hopped on the elliptical machine for 30 minutes. After that, I got on the stationary bike for a 5 minute cool down. I showered, then grabbed a bowl of cereal.

I decided to get back to the fundamentals. I took my measuring cup with me. I poured my 3/4 cup of Special K. I added milk. I ate. I felt satisfied. It's funny how you think you're getting screwed if the bowl isn't full. What a waste of space! But going back to that 3/4 cup felt good. It felt right.

I donated a triple shot of platelets this morning. There is nothing quite like a selfless act to make you realize how much more others are in need than you. My stuff seems petty and trivial.

I said it in one of my first blogs, when I talked about blood donation, but I'll bring it up again here. I have special blood. You see, I never gained a certain component that most people get as they grow up. Because I test negative for this component, my blood is, for lack of a better term, 'pure'. So, although my platelets go to leukemia and other cancer patients regardless, babies have priority to my blood. How incredible is that? I am helping the most innocent of the helpless. It's a cool thing. So I will admit I enjoyed some mini Chips Ahoys in the refreshment area (things always taste better when they're free! LoL). I earned it. But I did stick with my water instead of juice or soda.

I just got home. I had my healthy lunch. The only thing I'm craving right now is ice water. Well, and a nap. I did just get drained, literally, and am drained, figuratively.

So my Lovelies, thank you for being my sounding board. For being the universe I throw my thoughts into. Smooches to all!

Here is me this morning, pre-draining, LoL

Congratulations on re-tuning your plan. I've Heard of people who start the process, never stumble and reach their goals in a very short time - but I don't know anyone like that, so being a realist, I'll only believe it when I see it.

Change of topic:

As a retired professional photographer, I still find myself looking at faces. Were I still working, I would like to have you as a subject. What I see in your face is something that is a touch (or more) impish, and you are generally fun to be around.

On the other side, you can be serious, but people almost hesitate to take you seriously because even in your serious state, there is a touch of .......... for want of a better description, there is a challenge in your eyes that seems to say, "Don't worry about my web, It won't hurt you a bit".

Don't get me wrong, there is nothing about you that is scary, you appear to be more than one might expect.

If I'm totally wrong, please accept my apology, I didn't mean to be upsetting. You simply imply that there is something much deeper and if people aren't careful, they'll find themselves caught in the undertow - then you'd just laugh and clap your hands.

Also, congratulations on you blood donor donation. I was a quart from receiving my 5 gallon pin when I had a heart attack that required quadruple bypass surgery. I've always had blood pressure in a much lower range than normal, so now my cardiologist has made a strong recommendation that I no longer participate. Even with the little pint donation, there is a significant chance that my BP would crash and the nurses at the blood bank Really don't like calling a Code Blue, especially with a number of donors waiting.

I was pretty disappointed, because I am 0+ (Universal donor) and it just didn't seem fair I was no longer able to "give of my substance".

Keep up with your awesome attitude and work.

Bob

My daughter regularly donates and before I moved to a new city I'd be with another group of ladies who go out for a stick and flick. Donate blood and then go watch a movie, lol. Thank you for donating!!

Thanks for the blog. I also write my blogs to sound off. It gets it out of my head and body so I can move on. I also like that you know your body so well that you felt it wasn't done yet so you gave it some more. Lastly I liked the part about giving blood. You rock.

Wow, all that exercise you described is amazing! Way to go. And you are amazing, for donating blood! I used to do it, but I have a fear of needles so I have to work up the courage to go. :) Kudos to you!!

You had a busy productive day, doing good things for yourself (exercise) and good things for others (donating blood). Awesome!

And I learned something new (about the blood).

Thanks!
