Success in cooking brown rice!

The magic formula :

2 cups brown rice to 3 cups water! Just right! Firm enough to have pleasant bite but soft enough to swallow! This is only my 2nd time cooking brown rice! The first time, I put in too much water and it turned out too mushy. Like midway to porridge! Yuck! But still edible though.........

And my Dad actually ate it! Him! Who calls brown rice and whole wheat bread 'grass'! LOL!

    LOL I am completely incapable of rice without my rice cooker :) I once cooked brown rice for an hour and the outside was sticky, mushy, and overcooked, and the inside of each grain was hard as a rock. I now ONLY cook rice in the rice cooker :)

    I use a rice cooker. I just leave it to cook till the 'keep warm' sign lights up!

    I love brown rice. A tip I found that helps is to use the ratio you use, but put the rice in the water and soak it overnight, then cook it. cuts the cooking time in half and it is still a nice texture. This is of course if you're using a pan on the stove. I don't know if it would work in a rice cooker or not.

    Is this on a stove? I use a rice cooker and use 2 cups of brown rice to 2+1/4 cup water.

    Brown rice is really tricky. We got a rice cooker from bed bath and beyond and you throw the rice and water in and it cooks it and keeps it warm all day for you . rice comes out perfect every time
