Today's Highlight -- Fun One About My Son

Voted Popular Blog Post: View All Popular Posts

Sunday, August 05, 2012

This wouldn't fit as a Status Update, so I'm doing a quick blog post!

Today's highlight was when my 9yo son ran up and said, "Daddy, I reached 5 goals today (including swimming the length of the pool without taking a breath)!" Fun to realize that your kids ARE LISTENING even when they act like they aren't, then have things like this pop out of them :). What was your highlight? -- SparkGuy

That's so great!! I'm working on trying to get my 9 year old stepson to train to be a little more athletic (current goal with him: work on being able to run for 1 minute :)) and this is really inspiring!!

Isn't that sweet! Good for him and you for teaching him well!!! emoticon
My highlight was walking 3.5 miles today! Instead of taking one long walk in all this heat and humidity, been splitting them up in 2-3 walks! Can't give my outside walks up because of bad weather!!! emoticon emoticon

My highlight was taking my friends' dogs for a walk in the neighborhood. They were so well behaved, and I got 25 min of exercise in, too!

It also shows that Sparkpeople is about goals and lifestyle rather than diets and deprivation. I like that all people can use the various trackers and databases to help achieve healthy living, and your son is obviously learning good habits from his dad. emoticon

    What a great story!

My highlight of the day is that my husband has finally jumped on the healthy eating bandwagon. He does a lot of our cooking - and the last few days he has been really consciously changing what he cooks and the way he cooks - it's great!

My highlight was reading this and thinking back to when my boys were that age. The little girl next door is 9 and she comes over to visit and play with my dog. She just says the cutest things! Kids help keep us young.

That's so cool. My highlight was actually yesterday when I got to talk to my youngest niece and found out that my grandniece (her daughter) has gained some more weight. And on Tuesday my grandniece turns 3 months old.

I tried a new healthy recipe and it was a hit. Love your blog. It just goes to show how much of an example parents are to their children.

That had to feel good! You have inspired so many people... it's only fitting that your kids picked up your goal reaching mentality! Your kids are going to be limitless with that kind of thinking... very cool!

I had surgery last Monday, so I am little weak, but my highlight for today is I did 2 miles around my neighborhood. Now most weekends I usually get a in 8-12 mile run/walk... but considering that I just had over 5 pounds of extra skin removed from my stomach on Monday, I am happy to be back up to two miles.

Having a Spiritual feast and as I am dashing out of my own room with my face covered against all the perfumes, have a Brother stop me and ask me if I am Sister .... and when I say yes, he says I know Sister .... ... who turns out to be a Spark People member too! One I have only met on line so far. emoticon

My highlight was going to the movies and then out to eat afterwards and making good choices at the restaurant and not falling into the popcorn/candy trap at the theater.

He's a little Sparker for sure! How great to know what goals are at 9 and to already know the feeling of achieving some! I achieved 3 small workouts AND stayed within my calories today!

The whole length of the pool without taking a breath!! I am impressed!! My highlight today was sifting through the SPteams and realizing I need to change up in order to change this pattern that's taking me nowhere.
