Still at it :)

Sunday, August 05, 2012

I am still at this. Surprising most people that know me.

Was a little worried yesterday, my family decided they wanted to go and eat at Golden Corral. I thought just great, I am going to mess up really bad. I do not think I really did that bad. I had one serving of steak, about 3 oz...tossed salad, cooked green beans, carrots, brussel sprouts and broccoli..and I had about 3 oz of fried chicken (took the skin off). And I had just one scoop of cookies and cream ice cream. The amazing thing is that I didn't feel not one bit left out and was totally full. My husband even tried to eat better while there. Maybe what I am doing will affect my family as well.

I have been trying to not push on them the changes I am making in my life. I have been noticing our youngest starting to work on the Wii Fit and Walk it out again. :) and that they are also eating healthier. I have been slowly making changes in our food pantry/storage. Stop buying chips, crackers, and just plain junk food. We had stopped buying cereal at the store. Now I make homemade granola cereal, pancakes/waffles (freeze them) and they kids eat oatmeal (not prepackage kind) We also stopped drinking soda/pop and kool-aid for some time now (I think we stopped that in 2008) we drink basically only water. Also we have been cooking meals more with dry beans to stretch out the food budget plus to eat more fiber and healthier. Just needing to find different recipes..same stuff gets boring after awhile.

I did take the day off from walking/exercise yesterday. I did walk while I was out shopping etc, but didnt do any planned type exercising. Did that this morning. Walked 1 hour, walked 12,757 steps for 3.1 miles and burned 437.9 calories on Walk it Out.

This coming week plan on stepping up my strength training...plan on doing 10 reps of this poster each day... Really need to start defining/toning me. Also still working on the belly dancing dvd that I have. It is fun.

I guess that it for today.

Woo Hoo! Just restarting, and as in the past, buffet (and Mexican, due to the chips) were hard for me. You managed it really well - and so great to hear of the health improvements it'll make with your family. Way to go!

You did great at Golden Corral. I didn't know how many steps were in 3.1 miles That's what I walked this morning. It's great that you're sharing your healthy living with your family. I try, but my husband insists on his junk and fatty food. He does, however, cook healthy for me when he cooks, usually breakfast since he likes a warm breakfast and I like to join him once in a while.
