Lazy Season

Ever since Memorial Day I have really struggled with consistency with my workouts, after 9 solid months of 5+ workouts a week.

When I came back from vacation after Memorial Day, I keep doing this thing where I'll work out consistently for a week, then go a week without working out.

Or I might do 2 workouts a week.

Not good enough.

I feel crappy, I've lost strength, and I just can't get my motivation up.

Then I realized.

It's summer.

Summer is notoriously my lazy season. I've worked out my whole adult life and summer is always so hard for me. There's something about sunshine and warm temperatures that just zaps my energy and makes me lazy. I know that probably sounds a little nuts and most of you probably get that way in the winter when it's cold and dark. But cool temperatures invigorate me and warm temperatures melt me into a puddle of lazy goo.

I actually get this way every summer, but I don't want to. Last week I worked out Sunday and Monday. Last week was a good example of my 2-day a week workout schedule. Yuck.

So here's Sunday again. I got up early, I'm going to the store, and I'm going to work out this morning. I can do this. Even if it's warm and sunny outside.

I think everyone has a time of year where they regularly slack off... is it a season, like me? Or a vacation, or holiday, or maybe a time when work or school gets nuts... what time of year do you have the most trouble with a healthy lifestyle?

    I get super lazy in the winter. I gain weight and get depressed. But, I vow to make a change this year emoticon

    Summer is my difficult time too. In winter I usually lose 10 lbs and in summer, I gain it back slowly starting about May. Then by october, its gone. Pisses me off!! The heat does zap our energy.

    I am exactly the same way! Summer heat turns me into a slug! Slow and lazy! I try to keep those comments to myself but I can't wait until it's not as hot out there so I can return to my outdoor fitness activities!! Some people just love the sun & heat!

    I definitely understand the summer lazies! I feel the SAME WAY when it gets hot! I become a whiny adolescent haha..

Take pride in the fact that you've been hitting it HARD for a long ass time, and maybe you just need to take a wee break and then get back to it as soon as it cools off a little?? Or maybe try to do your workouts at night or early morning while it's cooler?

    I have had a rough time this summer as well. There's more distractions and the weather is less predictable. Today for instance I am finding every excuse imaginable to put off working out - including surfing around on SP! I should get off of here and make something happen.

    I'm having a lazy season right now.....I won't really know if it's my lazy season til next year rolls around...or if I've just become lazy in general.................UGHHHH LOL

    I'm the opposite! Winter is my lazy season! When it's cold, I just want to sit at home on the couch under a blanket. I don't want to leave my house, let alone to workout!

    I can totally relate to... "warm temperatures melt me into a puddle of lazy goo".

I struggle during the summer months too. After working out in the heat all day the last thing I want to do is come home and workout.

    Summer is definitely my lazy season. The kids are home all day, and it's too hot to want to move. I'm slowly starting to transition back into my usual routine.

    I also had a hard time with the summer having the kids home and just being lazy in general after dealing with them all day I didn't feel like working out and knowing that I had them all day you couldn't pay me to wake up early and work out HAHAHAHA it's awful I'm still struggling to get back in the swing of things!
