Avoided the Crazy Tax Free Weekend Crowds Yesterday

Sunday, August 05, 2012

To avoid the crazy crowds and traffic at most stores yesterday due to the tax free weekend in our area, my daughter and I decided to hit some thrift stores and Mighty Dollar as well as a quick stop at Aldi's and Lowe's Foods (since I had not gone there all week) for a handful of things.

I got some cherries at Lowe's Foods for around $1.77 or so a pound (can't remember exact amount) and some other deals that I won't bore you with.

These particular stores were not busy at all so my strategy worked, LOL.

Today I hope to finally get a chance from all the running around and craziness of emotional upsets to finally order my curriculum for the new year. It's been hard to focus on that because we're up in the air on what math to get, etc.

We got caught in a downpour though as we were trying to get everything we bought inside and that on top of the wind blowing caused us to get soaked by the time we finally finished, but it was fun because we laughed and screamed our heads off in the process! It was nice to laugh for a change after a stressful last few days!

We're going to be joining our group co-op this year and so science will be taken care of in that regard, but math is always a challenge (to find what works for us).

I'm with you. Saving a few bucks on taxes isn't worth combating the Christmas style crowds.
