Brick walls

Saturday, August 04, 2012

I was reading the "Last Lecture" by Randy Pausch and he is talking about brick walls. How brick walls and my struggle to walk this week have something in common I was not sure. This is what Randy has to say about brick walls.

“The brick walls are there for a reason. The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. Because the brick walls are there to stop the people who don’t want it badly enough. They’re there to stop the other people.”
― Randy Pausch, The Last Lecture

After thinking about struggling to walk, even for 10 minutes. The pain in my foot, discomfort in my hip and the heat. I could see all of these things are my brick walls, not really here to keep me from a walk. Here to help me realize I want to walk. So what I have learned from Mr. Pausch is each wall I run into, is there for me to see how bad do I want it.

Pain is also a reminder that we are alive! Not to say that it doesn't hurt...but it sure keeps up in the present.
I know you, Jeania...and know you are a person who will do whatever it takes to overcome any obstacle...(or should I say "hurdle")...to get to your goal. I believe in you.
