We haven't sold the house. That is not my good news. I wish it was. More on that later.
Last year we lost our school custodian. He is seriously the kindest, hard working man I have ever known. He was out in my gym EVERY DAY sweeping and spot mopping my gym floor. He changed out the trash every day and he cleaned the bathrooms EVERYDAY.
His mother had been ill and he was going to need to move to take care of her. He resigned at our school and moved down there and stayed working with Sodexho down there. Well, for whatever reasons they didn't carry over all the time off he had built up when he was here. He came back to our town and of course wanted to come back to our school but his position had already been replaced. The new guy we got SUCKED SO BADLY. Nothing was ever done. My gym was rarely cleaned. The teachers complained constantly that the teachers restroom was not cleaned regularly and that their rooms were not cleaned properly. When you teach little kids, cleanliness is so important or else things get gross.
All of the teachers, parents, and kids loved this man b/c he always went the extra mile. I wanted to petition Sodexho or write a letter to get him back, but I didn't want to step over the line and get my principal in trouble.
We got an email a couple of days ago from our principal announcing our staffing changes and he also said that our old custodian was coming back!!!!! I started to cry as I read the email. The man sent us Christmas cards this past winter even though he no longer worked at our school. I am still beyond stunned. I don't know what my principal did, but our school needs to throw the man a welcome home party!
We go back to school on the 15th so my summer is slipping away from me. Next week will be my last week at my summer job. My teaching assistant that I have had since I started teaching 7 years ago left and I am getting a fresh faced 22 year old college boy as my TA. He played baseball in college so I know my male students will love that. He is a certified teacher and wants to get his foot in the door so I know he will work hard and will do what is necessary. My previous TA was never going to become a teacher so her work ethic had definitely gone down over the past few years.
We have lowered the price on our house again. We orignially were at $185K, went down to $182K, and are now at $179,900. Maybe having a 7 there instead of an 8 will help us out. We still haven't had a showing. It looks like the house that was a block over that was priced majorly less then us is pending a sale. I am hoping with that home off the market that it will help.
Jason keeps talking about what we will do if the house doesn't sell in the fall. Maybe take it off the market and re-finance it. I don't want to take if off the market though b/c I don't want to live here anymore. I am ready to move on and get into a smaller home that is long term better for us.
So thats about it for now. We are still running and doing okay.
