My kids seem to be having a hard time grasping the fact that I have changed tremendously. For the majority of their lives I was a slow moving pretty unmotivated person. Granted I worked many hours on the graveyard shift, so my days were messed up by sleep. Yet I never really played actively with them. I wasn't able to stand on my own two feet, let alone chase them around the yard.
Today I got to prove to them just how far I've come. First we started the day with a Back-to-school shopping spree, then on to groceries (which we then had to bring all of the stuff up two flights of stairs). The kids were surprised when I told them we were off to the beach! We had a great time really playing in the water. We did races and played "pond monster"...really active stuff!
When we got home, my daughter snagged my Sprite Zero out of my hands (We don't normally drink soda, but it seemed like a nice treat) Anyways, she ran off shouting "I'll give it back, if you can catch me!"
Eight months ago, I would've said OK You win...you can have it....but not anymore! Once I grabbed all the wet towels and stuff I needed to bring up, I was off! I ran just as hard as I could and she took off laughing her butt off! She was way ahead of me, but I caught up to her on the first flight of stairs! We horsed around for a few, then we headed upstairs and split the soda.
Today (well actually yesterday since it is after midnight) was a GREAT day!
