As most of you know on my bucket list was riding on a Harley. My "baby" brother and I had plans to go to our state fair and he suggested taking his Harley as parking would be so much easier/cheaper and I said yes. Never have been a "rider" on a Harley I was a little apprehensive. But thanks to my friends, SP and others, I was given great advice and was very calm about the whole idea. He arrived at 7:45 AM and we were on our way a few minutes later. He asked if I wanted to use the city streets or the express way. (his significant other always prefers the city streets if she hasn't been riding in awhile) I said I didn't really know. So the plan was to ride up to the on ramp and take it to the first off ramp...if I was doing OK we would continue on the express way......I was doing better than OK. I was loving it so we continued on. If you are familiar with Milwaukee WI, we took the Hoan bridge route and it was fabulous. I need to tell you that I did wear jeans, but put my shorts on under them (which impressed my bro). Actually it impressed me too, as I lost enough inches to be able to do this. Now back to the trip.....getting off the express way there was a circle exit.....how exciting that was. Found a "skinny" parking space on the street only one block away from the fair grounds. It was "Hunger Task Force Day" so we brought along some food items and got in for a discounted price. (Mom taught us to be giving and Dad taught us to be frugal) We walked for 4 hours, stopped and ate a couple of the fair items: cream puff, pulled pork, chocolate covered cheese stick and had to try the "Elvis on a stick". This is a peanut butter cup dipped in banana flavored batter and sprinkled with bacon. Glad we shared it and can say we tried it....was really sweet and gooey....nothing I would eat again. Now we are ready for the ride home. Two things: one I wore a sun visor that I forgot I even had on so when I tried to put the helmet on.....well let's just say Bro had to help. Than (something I WILL remember for the next time) walking for 4 hours tightens your leg muscles....I could barely get on the bike. Had to take my hand and help my leg. Didn't even think of it, but will stretch next time.
Wish I had the couple of pictures we took, but they aren't on the computer yet so I will post them at a later date....sorry. All in all the day was wonderful and the Harley ride was fantastic. Thanks for stopping by and sharing in my experience. Hugs to all.
