August Goals

Thursday, August 02, 2012

Wow July flew by and it is already time to figure out August goals. Notice I am a few days off in that department because I don't want to believe it is August. Only 2 more weeks before I report back to work and I am not really ready to head back. I have had a very busy summer with my girls and like usual never accomplished everything I wanted to do.

July was not a good month for me. Hurt my knee and had to stop running. Even had to stop walking that much. I have now given a full week off from walking (mostly due to scheduling) and so I am hoping that when I start back up tomorrow all will be better. Food has not been good either. Need to get back into logging all my food again. Gained and lost 2x's this month. One good thing about going to school is that I will be more discipline with my food as well as get back into a routine of exercising. I love have a set routine.

So for August Goals:
1. Give up sugar: no soda, sweet tea or sweets (candy, baked goods, etc.)
2. Log my food.
3. Exercise - 3 days of strength training, 3 days of cardio (walking), one rest day.

Especially while waiting for your knees to feel better, get some sole inserts that say they are for knee pain. I put some in today, and for the first time in weeks, my knees didn't ache when I got home from exercising!

These are great goals, you make me realize I need to make some fresh ones that are measurable. The scale hasn't budged in two months, because I'm not doing what I know I need to do (I'm grateful I haven't gained!). I'm going to give that some thought...

Enjoy your weekend! Blessings and hugz! Rebecca

A schedule always helps me too. And although I am not a teacher ( Thank you by the way!) I love when school gets started again.... another opportunity to improve in all things! Have a great day school shopping. We have started but not finished shopping for everything yet. Love your goals! I am going to walk today after work and will be sending you good walking vibes! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Great goals and good for you on looking at your life and not making excuses for the rough spots, but digging in as soon as you can and going after the hard work of getting to goal.

I understand the injuries - they are more than a pain in the injured part. They screw up our journey for the duration but the best thing to do is let it heal so you can go back to your journey. Waiting seems to take forever. I was out a year with my knee injury and it involved my ankle and hip, too. I had to work so hard not to camp out in front of the fridge. It was worse finding exercises I could do that didn't cause pain in the injured areas and make things worse, but I was going to a PT and getting all kinds of help that way, too.

Keep going on your goals. You're going to get there. You've got a good motto - stick to it. Never ever give up! emoticon
