Debating lunch choices for this year
Thursday, August 02, 2012
At my school we have a really nice hot lunch program - organic for the most part, vegetarian, with vegan and gluten-free options. There's a nice variety of food and I can have a well-balanced meal. Over the past year, the menus started to feel a little more repetitive, however. Some days I had to wait in line 15 of my 45 minutes. The cost this year is going up $100 for the year. So I started weighing the pros and cons of continuing with the program or just bringing my own food.
It's nice to have someone else cook for me four days a week
I always have vegetables at lunch
It's nice to have a warm meal at lunch
I don't have to take the time at home to make a lunch
It's about $5 a day
Waiting in line on the slow days irritates me
I started getting a little tired of enchiladas every Monday and stir fry every Friday
I have another week or so to decide what I want to do. My worries? That I'll be even more repetitive if I'm packing my own lunches, and that I'll still spend close to $5 a day.
Anyone have any fun suggestions for lunch ideas that are vegetarian? Or advice? Thanks. :)
