Since I had a migraine on Tuesday, I thought it might also help to track those types of things. I was sick and in bed (under the pillow) all Tuesday. I took some heavy duty migraine medicine and knocked myself out. Yesterday I still had remnants of the migraine in the form of a pounding headache for which I took an Aleve. My co-workers were kind enough to let me keep the lights off at work as there is plenty of daylight to light our work space. I closed the shades on my 3 windows, but all others were kept open. I also wore a hat as I was still very light-sensitive.
I get migraines often, but I'm usually able to control them by catching them early enough. If I can catch them early enough, they won't turn into full-blown migraines but will remain just a pounding headache. As a precaution, I took another Aleve today.
I also have chronic lower back pain which I've had to deal with since I was a teenager. Of course, the more weight I have on me, the worse this gets. Occasionally it has made me stay in bed because of the pain, but very rarely. I've gotten so used to it that it's more a nuisance than anything. I do, however, take 4 Advil to keep it under control on the days when it actually hinders me.
I do not have the flexibility I used to as I no longer stretch every day. I can blame it on many things, but the truth is that the more weight I have on me, the worse I eat, the less I exercise and the more tired I feel. Rarely a day goes by that I don't say I'm tired. My body doesn't know if it's in famine or hibernation. I don't always eat breakfast and for a long time (before I moved to Austin) I would only eat once a day. I was working 3 jobs and going to school. There was NO TIME for me. I have records to show it. IF I ate, it was fast food on the way to one of the locations I had to be at that day.
When I moved here and now only having to work one job...it was almost like a vacation. WHAT! Just ONE 8 hour job...are you KIDDING ME! This is awesome. I was still working til 8pm though, and once you throw in the hour for lunch, didn't leave much time during the day. So, I ate more often, and was eating healthier (thanks to my roommate who cooks!!) but I still didn't WANT to exercise. Again, my weight and energy come into play here.
The least I've weighed in my adult life is 150. I was exercising EVERY DAY!!! Usually 4 hours a day (walking mostly) but sometimes more. I was eating healthy and I was juicing as well. I miss my juicer! Once I stopped working out I was able to keep my weight off for TWO years. The problem is, I was still working on my feet during those two years. When I went to a desk job in 2004, I started to gain weight...slowly! The kind of slow that you don't notice until it's too late! Or the kind you rationalize "yeah, I've gained some weight and I'm gonna work out again, but I still look good". Well I did (workout), and I still did (look good).
So here I am. The heaviest I've ever been, with NO motivation, NO energy, and lots of extra baggage. We'll see what happens.
