As I was on the treadmill last night I came to a very exciting realization. I am past the ‘starting over‘phase (again). I am on board and going full steam ahead. My head is in the right place, my body aches with awesomely sore muscles which serve as a reminder that I’m moving in the exact direction I need to be.
Getting over the hurdle of starting over again a hard thing to do - it’s so simple to give up and go back to the old ways….and then start over again in a day, week, month…etc.
When you wake up one day and say, “Ok…today is the day…I’m back on track!” - that is a bittersweet day. You feel excited and eager to get the ball rolling; but for me, my bad habits that whisper in my ear are hard to ignore. What’s one more day of enjoying unhealthy delights?
Once everything is in perspective and you are able to think big picture & honestly be able to tell yourself that you can do it, you can have a healthy LIFESTYLE - not just a healthy couple of days - It’s a new beginning.
I have decided that I am going to make a list of bad habits that are squashed or in the process of being squashed & a list of new beginnings. (I love lists.)
-Not eating all day and following it up with a feast once I get home from work.
-Mindless eating in front of the TV/Computer/At work
-Making excuses for excessive unhealthy indulgences.
-Letting other people influence my wellbeing
-Being just flat out lazy.
-Tracking my food every day & staying within my limits
-Understanding that it’s ok to have that treat - in moderation.
-Daily Fitness & Movement - Doesn’t have to be on my treadmill - Just get moving!
-Utilizing Sparkpeople.com for all it has to offer - support, advice, knowledge, tools.
-Teaching my son a healthy lifestyle.
-Overall, just feeling damn good about myself knowing that I’m doing everything I can to extend my life to have as many fun, silly times with my family as possible.
It’s a good day today. Hold your head up high & think BIG PICTURE!
