Keeping up while sick

I have some kind of stomach virus. For the past three days I've had difficulty getting all of my calories in, much less hitting my nutrient goals, because I'm so nauseated. On top of that, half the time I keep vomming whatever food I ate within an hour of eating it, which is never fun.

I know it's probably silly to be worried about my diet goals when I'm under the weather like this, but it concerns me that I'm not able to eat enough and keep it down. Walking has been the only exercise I've been able to tolerate for the past few days, and so in addition to not eating enough I feel like I'm not exercising enough, either.

How dos one strike a balance in these situations?

    One rests and heals. You aren't moving much, most likely, so I wouldn't worry about whether you are eating enough. Just focus on eating food that stays down and resting as much as you need to. There are some illnesses that one can exercise through; if one can't keep food down, then this is not one of those illnesses.

    I have to agree with SexBoBomb, your body is regulating you already. Make healthy choices when you can get food down, and walk around outside IF it makes you feel better! But other than that, give yourself a break! You need to get better, not continue to break down your immune system. You'll be back on your feet in no time!

    Dude, you have the stomach flu -- stay in bed, drink tons of water and sleep all you can!

You do NOT need to be working out. You need to rest. I promise you, the world won't come to an end if you skip working out for a week!

As for striking a balance -- your body's already doing that, by taking in less food. That's why there's no need to work out, because your body is self-regulating.

So, stay home, get loads of rest, drink water and watch a lot of crap TV. When you can keep down a real meal, then you can think about working out, but even then, do it slowly! Your body's still in recovery...
