This is the first year to keep the gkids for 2 weeks. It's been fun. I've helped them both make fleece throw blankets in patterns of their choice. Mikayla, 10, chose guitars with a black back and Kevin, 7, chose puzzle pieces with a red back. They helped with yardwork wearing wide brimmed hats and we've gone to lunch at a local restaurant that's decorated entirely of Beatles memorabilia, which their mom loves. We saw the movie Brave which was so cute. Bought them school shoes and new socks that all kids love starting a new year. I'm having Mikayla read recipes and make things which she hasn't done before. Monkeybread was a real hit, but the healthy Chunky Monkey cookies from Pinterest got a thumbs down. She helped to make herself a 3 tier sundress from Pinterest with matching dressed up flip flops. That was fun for me too. Kevin isn't as hands on with thing but doesn't seem to mind. He is getting time to play Wii without sister interfering. We went shopping at a resale shop and they both picked a couple items. Kevin especially like a navy and orange striped shirt and plaid shorts but I told him I didn't think he should wear them together, but if he does, so what.
It's been a lot of fun having them but time is running out. Mom and dad will be here before bedtime Fri night. The kids think they'll see them Sat. morning, so a nice surprise is coming. We wil go to a favorite restaurant Sat. with no plans after. Then they will head home Sunday. I sure will miss them. It's been soooo much nicer having extra days with them. Grandkids grow so fast.
