The Olympics

Thursday, August 02, 2012

Are you watching the Olympics this year? It amazes me how the body can perform such extreme feats. Our body is an amazing machine and these athletes have put forth great efforts to get to the place they are today. They are so young and proud to represent their countries. I'm not able to watch the events that I would like to watch because I don't have cable. I wish that NBC would show us more, even if it were late in the night. I would record it all. I would love to see the soccer games because my daughter plays soccer. I would love to watch the boxing matches because I love boxing. But even watching the swimming events, gymnastics and volley balls games are amazing to me.

I watched the biking races. I love to bike and usually use my bicycle as my main mode of transportation. After one of the biking races, I went on an errand on my bicycle and let my imagination run with me. I pretended that I was in the Olympics (and I'm 50+ :) ) and just thoroughly enjoyed the errand more than usual.

As I watch these young athletes, I'm just reminded our great our bodies are. We are to honor this body that God has given us. We sometimes are not successful in our goals but we never, never give up on having the healthy, wholesome body machine that God intended us to have.

We sell ourselves too short and as I watch the Olympics, I am in awe of the potential we all have, yet make excuses for doing what we should be doing for the betterment of health and the care of our bodies. These athletics spend most if not all of their lives training and sacrificing for this one moment in time, to be the best of the best. It is with amazement and pride to have the opportunity to make my own choices. They are all winners in my book and we can be, too! We are made in His imagine and what an awesome God we serve. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
