The thing about new clothes

I bought an entire new wardrobe for California - I spent about $400.00 from shoes to a few pairs of capri's, tops and shorts. Plus the dress for the wedding. I will NOT be staying in this size for very long and Summer is soon coming to an end... I am NOT planning on buying winter clothes in this current size. I am going to work very hard to lose 10 pounds this month.

Just a side note: I had not bought myself a new wardrobe in a few years - due to fear of spending the money and then not being able to wear the clothes. My plan is to take these clothes in when they become to big.

Do you put off spending money on new clothes due to fitness goals?

I don't intend to do too much spending till I get to my goal. Just enough to keep me covered along the way. LOL

You know, I have 4 kids (a son and 3 daughters) and 2 of the girls are overweight. But one, in particular, is diligently trying to lose quite a bit of weight (about 70 lbs.) and asks me the same question. I say, "Buy a few nice things..staples like black pants, jeans, a few nice, plain tops that can be dressed up or down. And buy jewelry and shoes because they ALWAYS fit, no matter what size you are. lol" Our outward appearance affects what we feel inwardly about ourselves. If we wear clothes that are a couple of sizes too big because we just don't want to invest in anything until we lose "just another 10 lbs.", then we just feel badly about the way we look and it's sort of hard to stay motivated in that frame of mind, you know?

I used to work at Talbot's and I was smaller and I have a lot of clothes from there (bigger sizes, too). Thankfully, I kept those Talbot's clothes (all sizes) because they are expensive, but totally worth the money (especially if you get them on sale...which I always do...now) because they are classic. I've been losing weight before Spark and I have clothes to go into...not too many...just enough. But I don't feel like they are baggy and make me look frumpy so I can feel good about the way I look.

    Nothing wrong with that!

I still have some clothes in smaller sizes that I'm relying on to see me through some of this weight loss journey. I'm trying not to spend too much along the way, but as I lose weight that will become more difficult.
