Right in Front of My Face

Wednesday, August 01, 2012

I've been at this whole "diet" thing a long time.

At least 28 years now.

And there are things that I KNOW work.

So how come I don't always do them?

The single most important thing that works for me is drinking water. A minimum of 80 oz. a day. I keep a little calendar where I track things like weight, exercise, hydration and other "fitness-y" things. Yesterday, when I got ready to turn the page for August, a fact about July slapped me in the face.

On the days when I drank more than 80 oz. of water, my weight decreased. On the days when I wasn't properly hydrated, it increased.

So why don't I drink my water?!?!

Anyway, the calendar is fresh again, so it's time to look forward instead of behind. I'm continuing work on my Happiness Project. My July focus area was health. I'd set some goals and made a chart to track them...

then I lost the chart.

So I printed a new chart, and I'm going to keep those goals for another month. Those goals are on my other blog: fortyoneproject.wordpres

I'm also going to move on with my Happiness Project. My August focus area for that will be Financial Health. One thing I'm trying to do this month is stick to spending on needs and letting the wants go for a while. I haven't posted the new goals yet, but I'll get to them (hopefully tonight).

As for the 41 Pounds Project, on July 1 I weighed 183 lbs. August 1 is 179.4. A total loss of 3.6 lbs. for month one. That means I'm pretty much on target for losing 41 lbs. by July 1 of 2013. I will need to continue to lose an average of 3.4 lbs. a month for the next 11 months. Just under a pound a week.

I think that's doable.

What are your goals for August? Is it starting to feel a bit like fall where you are?

Well done for noticing a item that leads to much success for you!

Keep that water going!

And all the best with your other goals this month.

emoticon on your month's loss. My August goal is to keep my carbs down so that my checkup the 1st week in Sept. will show a good glucose reading. I had an app't. last month and it was 203!! for the three month average. He changed my meds and I have been really good keeping track the past several weeks. I have seen a dramatic decrease in glucose readings. Now I've GOT to stick to it!!

It was 109 yesterday and 102 today. Not a harbinger of fall, yet, by any means!!!

Nice job on the weight loss. It is still summer here, but it's going way too quickly. You goals are realistic and quantifiable

Firstly, congratulations on your weight loss!!

That is awesome that you've put the time into making your personalized charts! You've inspired me to do the same, it would be quite interesting to see how the body responds to eating, exercising and water intake on a daily basis.

I think everyone has their phases, at least you can see your pattern and you can alter it. I'm on mine right now. I've been so geared up on losing weight and becoming healthier but this week has got me down. I'm hoping it's just "that time of the month"feeling and that I get back on track soon.

Anyway, I think your goals are realistic and attainable so keep up the good work!

Yep, it's been feeling like fall here since April! Denmark got cheated out of the summer season this year. (This could also be why I'm feeling blah!) ;-)
