After months of waiting, I finally received approval for the medical Botox injections for daily migraines and headaches. I was ecstatic! I received 32 injections scattered around my neck, shoulders, temples, and forehead. (It looks a bit odd, because I literally cannot move my eyebrows; can't raise them in surprise, or furrow them in anger....nothing.)

This is one of my last options.... as I'm sure y'all know I have tried just about EVERYthing for the migraines... My list of things (doctors, treatments, medications, therapies, etc) has exceeded 30 items now.

Anyhoo, The injections weren't terribly painful....a few were because of the insane amount of tension I hold in my muscles.

As of right now.... almost two weeks after the injections, I am still trying to figure out if they are helping. I still have a headache everyday, but some days they seem to be less intense on average. Ive still gotten a few MAJOR migraines...(One of which was all day at the county fair, listening to my hunny's LOUD band, watching my 2 year old niece, in the heat and sun, and going on rides with her......NOT COOL!)

I *think* it may be helping.... but I think I need to wait a bit longer to see for sure. (I have noticed that I'm not complaining about having a headache as often. Not that I voluntarily complain, but I find myself almost subconsciously (several times a day) saying "Ugh I have a headache.) THat hasn't been happening as much....

So, that's the Botox update.

I have two sons with daily migraines who have been getting botox injections, and it has been our experience that it does help, at least with the intensity of the pain, though not necessarily with the frequency. I hope that the botox helps you. Good luck and I will keep you in my thoughts!

Wow, that's a drastic remedy - but if it's helping, it's worth it! Plus you'll look younger longer, right?

I was in with my neurologist a few weeks and asked about botox injections and he said some people DO find relief but only from certain types of migraines...I was debating having it done as well....not sure if I will though...keep us updated on your results...I am keen to know!

keeping my fingers crossed for you!!!! emoticon
