Motivation:
I know I said that I was going to pick one of my five things that I wrote down for SparkLive! class, but this morning there was something else that motivated me, so I want to write about that. As I was lying awake in bed, I thought about staying there, how good it felt, how tired my legs were, blah, blah, blah. And then I thought of how many opportunities for a beautiful summer morning were left. I can't bike up here (outdoors) in the winter time, and even in the fall I can't bike in the early mornings because it gets too dark to be on the highway. So it's already August, and I really don't want to miss any opportunities to bike into the sunrise. And with that thought, it became easy to get out of bed and out the door.
Nutrition:
Today we have a community lunch - soup and sandwich. I love going to these, so many people turn out to share food and laugh and catch up. The bread is white, the soup is sometimes creamy, and there is always a wonderful dessert. Not the healthiest place to eat, but there are other benefits (mental, community, etc). So a good healthy breakfast, and a light dinner to round out the day. I'm looking forward to lunch!
Fitness:
As mentioned above, I did go for a bike ride this morning. And because my legs are a bit tired today, I only went for 34 minutes (I usually like to go for an hour). But in that 34 minutes, I learned that I have knocked over five minutes off my turn-around point. What used to take me over 22 minutes to reach, today took about 16. That's so much progress for such a short period of summer! Even with tired legs, I can still go so much faster. And I use the stationary bike all winter - it's not like in the spring its the first bike ride in six months! I just get better outdoors - must be the actual hills, and not the virtual hills that does it. Anybody else experience this?
