Back in January, I made some goals for the year. For the most part, I forgot about them. Typical, I suppose. Everyone gets excited about a new year and sets resolutions or goals only to forget them a few days later when the reality sets in that goals are easy to set and hard to meet.
For some reason, August has always been a good time for me to reflect and reevaluate my life and my goals. This started back in high school, as summer was winding down, and I was getting new clothes and supplies for school. All the calendars I got started in August. My half birthday is in August. August seems a good time for the start of a personal fiscal year.
So this morning, I found the file in which I put my goals for 2012 (not too hard, as it is on my laptop). I have been slacking on most of my goals except for the one that says I intend to pay my bills on time (go me on that one!). I revised them a bit to make them more doable – but not so easy anyone can do them.
But…I did make some progress on fitness goals:
I signed up for the Virtual 5K from July 29-August 4 here on SparkPeople. It was virtual in the sense that I didn’t have an organized event to attend. It was real in that I really walked it. I should have run it, but I haven’t been running. It has been hot, and I have been lazy (what else is new?).
I walked the 5K Monday. I had already measured my route with my car, and I know that it is 1.5 miles to the police station, so round trip is 3 miles (RunKeeper says it is 3.18 miles round trip; I’ll take it.) It is uphill both ways (really!), but the worst of it is the first 0.75 miles heading toward the police station. It is good to get the bad part out of the way, first.
So…here’s to the rest of 2012!
