Slow Start to the Month

Wednesday, August 01, 2012

This isn't how I wanted to start this month's training at all! I was so excited last week to work on my fitness calendar for August. It's more ambitious than my previous two months, but so far I haven't been able to complete anything on it.

I can't be too hard on myself about it though. It's not like I'm shrugging off my workouts. I really want to go to the gym or go out for a run, but it's a little uncomfortable to do both considering I'm covered head to toe with Poison Oak.

I felt so good getting stuff done around the yard on Sunday. I did a lot of weeding, but unfortunately it came with a price. I went to the doctor yesterday because it's on my face (literally head to toe) and getting close to my eye and in my ears (don't ask me how it got there). He said that because I'm on blood thinner they can't give me prednisone, which I have a hard time believing. My father is on prednisone and coumadin with no problem. The doc said it'll probably get worse the next couple of days before it gets better and that it'll probably take a month to heal completely.

Anyone know any home remedies? Or better yet, know any recipies to make an oatmeal bath? I heard that helps the inflammation. I might have to take one before bed to help me sleep. I've been taking benedryl at night, which usually knocks me out cold but not this time. I'll pass out for a few hours then wake up to bleeding arms from scratching in my sleep. I really should wear sleeves but it's 80 degrees in our bedroom.

This too shall pass. I've been eating less to make up for the lack of exercise I've been doing this week, but I've been doing ab work at least while I watch TV in the evening. That makes me feel a little better. i AM NOT GIVING UP!

Hugs hope you feel better soon. For the oatmeal bath- there are some powder pkg in the baby section at walmart that you can dump in the water for a milk bath. Or you can take some oatmeal and put in a old sock and tie it up and put in the water and squeeze out the nice stuff. Don't try the baking soda it burns like **** I had hives after I had the baby an allergic reaction to a drug I had in the hosp while giving birth and it was horrible. As your dr for an Cream to put on. Hope you feel better.

Good for you! Whenever I can't exercise I use that as an excuse to give up and eat whatever I want :( But I'm glad you're pushing through and maintaining that healthy lifestyle! I hope you heal up soon!!

Praying you heal much quicker than the doctor anticipates. emoticon

    That sounds painful.

Try a paste of vinegar and baking soda. I've never had poison oak, but I've heard this works. It seems like vinegar and baking soda are good for everything!
