The Food Tracker Police

Tuesday, July 31, 2012

Some days I feel like the food tracker police...I have become used to whipping out my iphone to find out the caloric content for foods before I eat them, and to calculate how much I am allowed when I'm offered something (usually by my mom). My family has been making a few jokes about it, and at first they didn't want me to be so strict with myself - probably because they didn't want me refusing the food or they didn't want me to talk about the dangers of eating too much of this or that. But I somehow have been able to tune them out and keep doing my thing.

The past week, I incorporated multivitamins back into my diet and found that my intake of proteins, fats, carbs, and calories have been all over the place - I either do enough calories, or not enough protein, or else too much fat! I thought for sure tonight I would break even in all of those, and I found that I was great in everything BUT carbs and fat. I went under by 1 in carbs, and was 20 over in fats. Sigh.

But hey, I can't complain too much, because I bought some raw almonds yesterday, and those have helped with the other nutrients I started tracking last week. The only thing I didn't end up doing was exercising today, because I felt so worn out and ended up steam-burning my thumb :-( So that effectively put an end to my activity for the day. Now it's just about time for bed, and I'm only too happy to conk out tonight...

It is so hard to eat "perfect". I know it's necessary, but I wish all the good foods would taste better.
