I woke up way too early last Friday. I gave up trying to fall back to sleep so I got up and went geocaching all by myself. We had attempted to find this particular cache twice before and kept approaching it from the wrong direction, I was trying to find another entry point but failed to do so. Regardless, it was an intense workout since I ended up ascending and then descending a river escarpment. It was rather dumb of me to go on my own (had the trusty dog with me though) but I had my phone and a GPS so I figured I could call out and give my exact location if worse came to worse. *lol*
Here's my dog. Bad me has her off-leash while I work my way slowly down the steep bit. Too dangerous to have her possibly tug me off balance.
This is a steep downhill bit. Hubby wouldn't let me go down this when he came with us. *lol* He didn't think I could do it with my knees. Ha! Showed him! I "slow and steady"-ed it and had no problems. I was thinking one of those hiking poles might have come in handy though. Thank heavens for strategically placed trees on the way down. I have to say though, I am glad I didn't have to negotiate it while also trying to get my kidlet down it as well.
I have been having real problems with my knees this summer. I am sure it is from weight regain but I think part of it has been heat related swelling. If I were a horse I would say I am "stocked up" because I seem to do better once I get moving. Between that and some sort of piriformis (like sciatica of the butt), it has been a rough year so far. Oh, and it is probably salt intake as well. (sigh) I think it'll be cured by many more miles of hiking. (snort) Don't you?
