This past Sunday has brought me close to meeting a six year goal: earning my 4,000 Footer New England patch. What does that mean? I’ve climbed 66 out of 67 New England peaks through heat, cold, high winds, snow and hail. I’ve had two wilderness camp-outs, and stayed in about 20 B&B’s. I’ve had 5 falls, many blisters in 5 sets of hiking boots. I’ve eaten 55 PBJ’s on those climbs and have come to enjoy them.
Hiking has transformed me into a stronger person. I’ve found the solution to many of my problems by putting one foot in front of the other, and letting God speak to my heart. Now I have just Mt. Abraham in Maine to climb in order to earn the right to be called a 4,000 Footer New England.
Beyond Mt Abraham,, I will seek another peak experience. A new adventure awaits!
