I made it to Sydney on Sunday

Monday, July 30, 2012

After a bad night's sleep Saturday night - up for quite a few hours in the early hours of the morning, alarm went off at 5.30 am and I packed, and paid some of our accounts, transferred some money etc, etc., packed up my music and all the church bigs and pieces into the car, my bags and bits and pieces. I had breakfast and was dressed in my 'finery' LOL and still had some spare time - so I carefully pruned some roses so that I didn't cut myself or get dirty before church.

After the service I had some morning tea - and then left for Sydney.

I stopped at Yass for lunch and took off again. I was so tired and I found myself dozing off a couple of times - very bad! I didn't want to stop on the side of the road and made it to Marulan where i put the seat back in the car park and rested for about 15 minutes.

I felt much better and off I went. I arrived safely, but won't do that gain. If I am driving up alone, I am going to get up and leave in the morning. Getting too old for doing lots before I go, then getting into the car and driving.

I met up with my youngest daughter and partner - they came over for pizza and we had a great night.

The childen were great today - and the house inspection went well, so all are happy.

In the morning I will drive home after breakfast and I shouldn't be tired then.

Food tracking and exercise - not happening. I start the day well with food and then it goes down hill from there. Exercise - unless running after a nearly 2 yr old counts for part of a day - zilch emoticon

My daughter made a lovely pasta dish tonight and I am sure it would be ok as far as calories go. She made her own pasta with the kitchen maid - yum. The sauce she made was onion, garlic, chicken and bacon fried, then added a can of light evaporated milk thickened with 2 tablespoons of cornflour, in with the other ingredients and cooked. This was poured over the pasta with some parmesan cheese added and mixed in. Then on sun dried tomatoes on top with a little more parmesan. Was it nice! YUM

I am sure the calories could be worked out with the planner.

However, we had some wine, camembert, biscuits....very nice, then a small helping of neopolitan ice cream ..... emoticon emoticon

You must be back home by the time I read this. Glad the trip to Sydney ended well and that you had such a grand time with your children and grand-children. You have a very fulfilling life! I'll be reading your next blog post to find out how you are faring and whether you are able to track on a more regular basis. The Healthy and Filling Technique helped you in the past, especially when you were home. Take care, Sandy, you will do well, especially before leaving for Thailand again.

    Hi Sandy:
Hope you got home OK after your adventure of travel. How far is Sydney from where you are? Sounds like you had a nice time, the meal sounds very yummy! I always get tired if I drive a fair distance, I try to pack up the car the night before I leave so I can get an early start. Love to drive to the Rocky Mountains in Jasper, about 4 hours from home, absolutely beautiful ..... you should look them up on the internet and see for yourself. Of course, pictures can never do them justice. The town of Jasper is really cute, lots of shops, unusual items and of course some very expensive ski shops, good for a look but much cheaper to buy at home. Anyway, the lakes there are as blue as blue can be and you can see the bottom of some of them. It's my favorite place within reasonable driving distance from my home.
Take care, 'chat' with you later!

Thanks Sylvia. I will be sensible tomorrow - even if I break the trip and stay over night at Goulburn or Yass - seems a little silly - but if I am tired I may do that.

I am not comfortable at all stopping at a rest area these days - the car park of a McDonalds etc. sounds better! LOL emoticon

I sympathise with you over the driving. When my daughter & fam lived at Port Macquarie, I would drive up there a lot, especially at Xmas, with the pressies....I well remember parking in a side street next to a park in the early hours & having a sleep, was so hot, had to 'crack the window little, was a bit nervous, so really didn't sleep well, but I felt better, then went around to the Service station, filled up, used the facilities & had a coffee & food, then off I went, arrived at 4.30am....pulled into their driveway, quietly, with lights off, and settled back for another snooze, but within 5 mins a voice said 'Would you like a cuppa?" My SIL had woken up! I did that a few times.... on the way back, (I like to get on the road early) I pulled into a lay-by & closed the car up & had a 2 hour sleep....that was after less than 1/3rd of the way home....that was only about 8 or so years ago, but I don't think I could do that now. there comes a time, eh? Don't be too hard on yourself food wise, it was a little holiday, back on track now....just stay on track for a few days, and you will find that all will be well....it's all about Self-Love Sandy....and forgiving oneself.

The thing that mattered was that you enjoyed yourself, and the fam will remember you, I don't get to see my fam much these days....has been about 3 years now, they moved further North, no money for the overpriced petrol these days, with high rent & on a pension....so give hanks for your happiness.

Love
Sylvia xxx
