Well, I was doing much better than I could have expected for awhile there. When I weighed in the morning of July 28, I weighed in at 259.8 pounds, a loss of 10.2 pounds in 10 days. I really couldn't believe I was losing that fast, especially since I wasn't doing my usual trick of weighing in after working out, before rehydrating. Still, even though I didn't believe the weight loss, it felt really good to see the scale moving in the right direction for the first time in months.
Then that night, what had been just bad allergies turned into a full on sinus infection (or something that felt like it) that completely floored me. None of my medications worked, and yesterday I decided to just forget the weight loss thing and started making big drinks of cinnamon whiskey, honey, and lemon. After a couple of those, I decided I needed lots of food, and ended up getting 3 doritos tacos from Taco Bell and a large chocolate caramel shake from Sonic. Needless to say, I didn't bother weighing in this morning.
The funny thing is that I woke up today feeling almost better, until a really nasty cough hit me for about an hour. I've eaten well, though I did have a few cookies that my roommate's girlfriend brought down to me, freshly-baked, to try to make me feel better. I went ahead and just weighed in, and am at 263.8. You know what? I'm pretty damn happy about that. After 12 days, including getting sick, I've still lost 6.2 pounds. And I know those extra 4 pounds that I put back on in the last 24 hours or so are just temporary weight that, between digestion and sweat, will fall off quickly. Not true fat weight.
My spirits (not the whiskey) are still high, and I'm looking forward to being able to work out tomorrow, nasal passages permitting!
