Here's a video of me breaking up a concrete sidewalk with a sledgehammer. The sidewalk had 2 sections, about 5 feet long and 3 feet long by 3 feet wide. When I went to rent the sledgehammer and said what I wanted to do, the guys at the rental store looked at each other and LAUGHED! Then they said it would take me "DAYS" to do it, if I even could. Adding in, "Don't wear those sandals when you do it." Uh, thanks, but I was actually planning on doing it barefoot (not!)
I actually went to another rental place a couple weeks ago to check things out and he wouldn't even let me see the sledgehammer saying, "there's no way you can do it that way... this is when you get your boyfriend to help."
Ok... I'm just over 5 ft 3 and a size 4/6 but I've a lot of strength in this small package! The job took me about AN HOUR, and I did it AFTER I ran and worked out, too, and this was my recovery day after running 15 miles yesterday!
My form might not be perfect... BUT THIS IS ALSO THE FIRST TIME I'VE EVER USED A SLEDGEHAMMER!
THIS IS FOR ANYONE WHO HAS BEEN LAUGHED AT AND TOLD THEY COULD NOT DO SOMETHING!! YOU NEVER KNOW UNTIL YOU TRY!!
Oh, and PS: I built that wall and the built-in cabinet that is behind me in the first shot, framed and installed those doors, finished the drywall and painted everything, moved that window over from the right side of the room, wired the whole room, refinished the hardwood floors, and installed the chandelier overhead... among other things. :)
