it's been a good week. without company until the weekend, meals were easy - make big pot of soup, add salad, eat leftovers, repeat:-) make big salad, add hummus sandwich, eat leftovers, repeat:-) company on the weekend, but still did ok - wine one evening, pizza, but my piece had white bean spread instead of cheese - and i left half for lunch today, instead of feeding my mouth once my stomach said it was done. one evening visiting a friend, but we brought the goodies. it worked. i gave up on feeling guilty or inadequate about being unable to plan a weekly menu and just filled the pantry and fridge with Good Healthy stuff and put together what we needed and felt like (depending on hot or cold weather) each day. thank goodness for my pressure cooker!
very very pleased with running - longest run in 5 years went great. ran out of music (note to self - increase playlist!). i love the galloway run/walk/run method - hills that were sooo intimidating in the past when i felt compelled to run every step of the way are no longer frightening. big hill? you can walk - because downhill, i run the entire way anyway. my times are just as good if not better, and i feel much better at the end of the run because i have not exhausted myself - that just is not the point.
and strength training - while i will never be a gym rat, i did manage to do ST every other day, lower, upper and core each time. nothing special, nothing fancy - but more than if i had done nothing. and it added up. i kind of wonder if it may even have had an effect on the last run this week, which felt surprisingly easy.
lots of walking too, as always. a couple of the running days were long enough that we did not add more miles this time, but the total for the week was
running miles: 25.1
walking miles: 19.3
well above the 30 mile goal for weight loss.
and weight loss? oh yeah:-)) down to 105.2 - for a total of 19 lbs lost since late march. and the lowest since before DD was born in 1985. those shorts i wanted to fit into that were sitting in the drawers from two summers ago? they are now sliding down my hips - time for a smaller size.
thyroid med: now taking 25% of what i was taking in march. feeling great.
hypertension med: down to one tablet.
and i can't say enough how much SP has meant to me in accomplishing this - i never thought the tracking and accountability were so important, but they work. and the support - hearing from others, sharing, and giving back - it is a winning formula.
so, the coming week?
running: monday and wednesday, 5k race saturday, total about 14 miles
walking: all other days, plus whatever gets added to running days
strength training: sunday, tuesday, thursday
nutrition: to be determined by sun and rain...
and that's the plan.
